Hello everyone, and welcome to ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) kawaiimae , my mostly personal LJ. I'm Kawa, resident blogger and fangirl.
In case you didn't notice, this LJ is friends only. I do discuss "personal" things here, not just fandom things, though fandom comes up too, since it's a big part of my life. I'm willing to take in new friends, if you are willing to accept all of the facts about me below.

I'm going to be using this more now, and possibly in a more personal manner, so I'm doing some trimming. Most of the ones I'm cutting are ones I don't read anymore, have gone dead, or who don't have me friended back, at any rate.

so basically my parents went off to florida till wednesday. this would usually be a signal to great joy and celebration.
however, they took the laptop with them.
so now i'm on a terrible computer which all will acknowledge to be 'broken' - i think certain .dll files did not set up properly when we last reinstalled Windows 98, so now it can only be at 640x420 resolution and 16 colors, plus no sound. It's also, well, still on Windows 98.
If anyone has a solution I can download, that would be amazing. Until then, don't expect me to be on the computer much.

Busy week; random thoughts below.
1) I'm going to friendslock this journal in the very near future; that is, as soon as I make a decent friends only banner. ^_^ (That will wait until I get the new version of my Chinese name...you'll see how it works.) Any/all swimslash hoocies must comment at some point to tell me whether or not you'd like to also be in my Real Life filter. (You'll get stuff like this on a regular basis)
2) I have far too many fics to work on. Just far too many. I really wish I could do the challenge over at swim_ficathon but it's during NaNoWriMo and I will be busy enough giving daily doses of swimslash to the (tweeny) masses.
3) I so aced that C&J test on Wednesday. Go Kawa!
4) Starting tomorrow I'm swimming on Mondays at the Asphalt Green for an hour. (It's on 91st and York on the UES for all ye NYers.) I may also begin DDRing on Fridays at the billiards club on 86th street between Lex and 3rd (closer to Lex) that I ran into this past Friday.
5) I ran into said club (with said DDR Extreme machine) when I randomly met up with Chandler on Friday afternoon. 'Twas fun.
6) RUROUNI KENSHIN IS BACK ON CARTOON NETWORK BEEYOTCHES! (Saturdays, 10:30) First of all, it's replaced the evil evil Gundam SEED that I despised. Secondly, it's my favorite anime series ever ever. (See my icon? That's Souzou, who is the second-coolest-dead-chara-ever next to Chang Meilan of Gundam Wing: Episode Zero.)
7) In related anime news, there's a showing of the Animatrix next Saturday from midnight to 2 AM. Trust me, it's so so worth it. (I LOOOOOOOVE that thing so hard!)
8) Back to the swimmers and swimslashers, happy birthday vitawash24! Sorry I have no fic.
9) Happy early birthday to xanpet2000! I may have fic for you later on.
10) Yesterday was so great. First stopped at the boyfriend's house with his mother (who is so so cool and sweet) and there was cuddling. And good music. (I've missed him so much before that day, we've just been so busy! Aaah!)
11) Then I went to the NaNoWriMo meetup. There were hardly any people there, but it was still fun and there was yummy food. I love food. XD

As some may know, my name is Katrina-Mae. Yes, with a hyphen, though spaces are sometimes okay depending on my mood. No, it is not May, nor is it Mei, it's Mae. No, I am not Kristine, or Kristina, or Catrina, or Catherine--I am Katrina(-Mae) damn't. Very very few people call me "Katrina-Mae"--they are generally older, and figures of authority besides. Most people in school call me Katrina; a few call me Kat (even though I generally dislike it, they're the exceptions; I dislike Kat because people can confuse me and catseye436.) One or two call me Trina.
When I first discovered my technophilia, I came up with 'kawaiimae,' occasionally 'KawaiiMae;' taking from the second part of my first name and the Japanese word for 'cute' (kawaii, rhymes with Hawaii). It was used to get this LiveJournal, my old e-mail address that I had for many years before I switched to Gmail this year, and a few forums. I got a bit tired of the name though, even if I obviously still use it in a few places.
I got tired with the name right around the beginnings of the growth of my love for Gundam Wing (my first true anime love); my favorite character was (and still is) Chang Wufei. And as a few of you may know, Wufei's Gundam is based off of the design of Chinese dragons; he is also a member and heir of the fictional "Dragon Clan" on L5.
I wanted to keep 'Kawaii,' I knew that much right off the bat; 'Kawaii,' often shortened to 'Kawa,' had become something of a second name of mine. (It still is.) But 'Kawaii Dragon' was too oxymoronic for me; plus, thanks to my all-girls education, I wanted something more feminine (while still kicking ass as only dragons can.)
Thus the name 'Kawaii Dragoness,' often also 'Kawa,' used ever since.

Forgive for the lack of online-ness lately. Not feeling well at all. >< Plus, schtupid parents and the router not working means that when my parents are not forcing me offline, my sister is using my compy and can't use her own. >< >< urrrrrrrrrrgh.

I kinda wish you'd come online before midnight, it'd help me out--but don't feel obliged, okay? Then again, the isolation is probably good for you fics-wise. (E-mail me anything you have for 7DS if you ike. I know I'm the only beta you don't have betaphobia over, hah!)

...to update every week, on the behalf of my LJ friends who don't have Xanga.
It's been a busy week so far but a good one; clubs fair is tomorrow so we shall see how that goes. My tests have not been bad, I am appreciating the coolness of my teachers very much, and I now have my iPod which leaves me in all sorts of joy. It's a LOT OF WORK though (six courses! what was I thinking?!) so we shall see how it all goes.
And because of that, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get music recommendations. Tell me all your favorite artists and songs, and why you love them! (Also tell me if it's music to dance to, music to study to, music to write to, music just to listen to in its sheer beauty...I think you get the picture.)
